Gaṅgamaṇḍala which was occupied by Coḹa dynasty during 10th CE, was added with fine temples by the then Coḹa rulers. Saptamātṛkā shrine one of such shrines at Kolar that was built by the one of generals of Rājendra Coḹa. This is ascertained by an inscription at the temple. After the usual Mei kīrti, the inscription informs us that Mārāyan Arumoḹi alias Senāpati Uttama Coḹa Brahmamārāyan, Son of Narākkaṇ Kṛṣṇan Rāman alias Rājendra Coḹa Brahmādhirāya of Veṇṇāḍu built the temple as per the ordinance of Rājendra Coḹa during his 22nd regnal year. He donated seven Buffalos for the perpetual lamp and donated a lamp with 100 palam. Some other Brahmins who assisted in building the temple also donated for the lamps.

கோப்பரகேசரி பன்மரான உடையார் ஸ்ரீ ராஜேந்த்ர சோழ தேவர்க்கு யாண்டு 22 ஆவது சோழமண்டலத்துக் கங்காசாயரத்துக் குவளால நாட்டு குவளாலத்துப் பிடாரியார் கோயி.. முன்பு இட்டிகையாலெடுத்து நின்றது.. ங்கி உடையார் ஸ்ரீராஜேந்த்ர சோழதேவர் அருளிச்செய்ய எடுப்பித்தான் சோழ ம…லத்து உய்யக்கொண்டார் வளநாட்டு வெண்ணாட்டு அமண்குடியான கேரளாந்தகச் சதுர்வேதிமங்கலத்து நராக்கண் ஸ்ரீ க்ருஷ்ணன் ராமனான ராஜேந்த்ர சோழ ப்ரஹ்ம்மாராயன் மகன் மாராயன் அருமொழியான சேனாபதி உத்தமசோழப்ரஹ்ம மாராயன் இக்கோயில் எடுப்பித்து இதேவர்க்கு சந்த்ராதித்ய வரை எரிக்கக் கடவதாக ஜனவார்கல்பமென்னும் …. த திருநுந்தாவிளக்கொன்றினுக்கு இக்கோயிலில் சிவப்ராஹ்மணன் ஆலன் வினகனுஞ்சங்கரன் தியம்பகனும் உள்ளிட்டார் வசம் வைத்த சாவா மூவா நல்லெருமை ஏழு இவ்விளக்கு நின்றெரிய இட்ட நுந்தா விளக்கு நிறை ஆயிரவனது கோலால் நூற்றுப்பலம் இவற்கேயித்திருக்கோயில் எடுப்பித்தான் ஜயங்கொண்ட சோழமண்டலத்து செங்காட்டுக் கோட்டத்து மாகிணூர் நாட்டுக் காட்டுமானபாக்கத்து ப்ராஹ்மணன் மூத்த வகைத்தூதன் திருப்பொறி அம்பலத்தாடி க்ஷத்ரியசிகாமணி வளநாட்டு எயிநாங்குடையானான மூத்தவகைத்திருப்பள்ளித் தொங்கலுடையான் சிந்தாமணி சங்கரன் குவளாலத்துப் பிடாரியார்க்கு சந்த்ராதித்ய வரை எரிப்பதாக இத்தேவரை ஆராதிக்கும் சிவப்ராஹ்மணர் வசம் ஒரு சந்தி எரிப்பதாக வைத்த சந்தி விளக்கு ஒன்று.
Thus the temple is stated to be built using stone from the bricks.
